  1. Yeah, that could be rather good fun. Magura
  2. Looking real good......though I like the color of the ones I made better We should keep in mind, that those guys are good.Magura
  3. Naah, I think you got it wrong. I meant those Siemens caps I sent together with the 6 legged fuses. I didn't write that I sent some binding posts, I was just peeing on those mini-binding posts that Stein tried to boast about :cheers:So I guess all is fine.Magura
  4. Thanks :cheers:For once I actually did catch the pics at Diyaudio myself.....I promise that won't happen again For now, we are still working on the molds, but if we keep the pace, this WILL actually be ready for the Danske BAF Magura
  5. Oh, this is much closer to the answer I wanted to hear Making a heated mold, use it in a press = a walk in the park. Making a paper cone = no friggin clue, lots of gray hairs.I was actually thinking pre-preg carbon. It's nice and easy to deal with.I don't quite catch your last comment. Why is it they don't use carbon cones? I dared to assume, it was due to production cost?Magura
  6. So, to answer your questions (hey, I'm the one whom should receive answers here ).Cone I hope to be able to make from carbon fiber, to save some weight, which I can then spend on the voice coil (make it more powerful). I still am not convinced that the material properties of paper, can't be transfered to carbon. (beginning to sound like helicopterboy, I know ).I plan to build everything from scratch, as that's most likely the easy way in the end. If using parts from other speakers, it will end up with a lot of compromises. Not my cup of tea.I am sure going to make the pole pieces myself, as no other would fit the bill, since the plan is to make a very strong magnet. My calculations so far, has ended up at 4kg of magnet wire per magnet, so the motor alone will end up around 10kg. This is only limited, by the fact that there is a limit to the diameter (can't be bigger than the cone diameter) and the length can't be bigger than it still fits a BIB speaker. No pics so far, but if I can get my feet back on the ground (chances are that it can happen tomorrow afternoon), we expect to have something to show in a few weeks.I think I better repeat my old mantra: It will be ready by Christmas Magura
  7. Making a basket from metal, would be much harder than making it from carbon or glass fiber, hence the question. Making a mold for a fiber basket, is a walk in the park, opposed to machining metal baskets.Magura
  8. Hmm, but using carbon I could make a lighter cone, and dampening should not be an issue, if the right resin is chosen. Making paper cones is somewhat harder from where I stand, as carbon is a material I'm very familiar with. Why should it not be possible to make carbon act like paper?Magura
  9. I figured that molding in a big washer would do for this? How do you work around this on the trikes?Magura
  10. The plan is actually to make them, like if for serial production. That's the easy solution, to get some consistency, so another pair is not totally out of the question. We have been discussing to make the basket of either glass or carbon fiber. Any reason why that's not a good idea?Magura
  11. Ok, this project is slowly taking off now. I have found another member for the team, which makes it a group of 8 He is fairly skilled, so we decided to make a few for both of us.Decisions so far:Cloth spider.Carbon cone, dampened with strips of felt.Leather surround (the easy solution).Magura
  12. Not sure I agree. The adhesion of the copper to the PTFE, is much lower than for FR4 boards. Lifting pads is an issue.I sure had my share of crap with that. It's gonna be interesting to see the outcome. As I said earlier, it may be worth it, to have a couple of spares made, if it works out, as I have like 0.5m2 left of that PTFE board.Magura
  13. Did you check the drill sizes ?Magura
  14. Pics of the boards yet Zmuck ? Magura

Oh, if I only had more friends like you Magura
  16. Magura

    B.S.B.I.T.

Well, the end is near then The itch scratch part I'm not too envious about though....hate the stuff! with a passion!Magura

Does anybody have a link to the photos of the finished result? :character13:Magura
  18. what do you base such accusations on? Magura
  19. But hey, all the participants seem to be happy, so why worry? :bomb:Actually, this particular thread has not gone OT. The thread title says "donut".Now it didn't say anything as to how the donut had to be implemented, just that it's overkill, which I'll promise that the FC driver project also will adhere to Magura
  20. Thanks Choky, much appreciated I'm beginning to see possibilities in that stuff.Magura
  21. So you're not coming along Ston? Magura
  22. Ok, then I did find it I was sorta planning on a plain series regulator. Magura
  23. Hmm, been checking out the page, but I have a feeling that I didn't find what you tried to show me?Magura
