So, today was a step closer to flicking the switch.I for some reason couldn't find the isolation washers for TO-3 packages, so, yes you guessed it, I machined a bunch instead. Not being able to find them is maybe to stretch the truth, but the only place withing the kingdom I found them, is from Elfa, and they want 1.5eur a piece. Not happening for the pi$$ poor nylon version. So I made some out of FR4 board, they even got copper on the upper surface, and a nice press fit Magura

The end is near Magura

Nice going!I look forward to hear the result over a rygeost sandwich Magura

Thanks for the offer, much appreciated, but as you see above, I'm working on the case myself Magura

Build : yesTest : no As I am out of hefty rectifiers and still lack some parts for the PSU.I do plan to get this running sometime in July though, so it won't be long Magura

Damned Stein, had you only posted 10 minutes earlier, then you'd have it your way, but the goodie-bag just went in the mail. Magura
-
Nope, of rectifier boards Magura

How about an on-line seminar? You know, the Mrs. sure won't appreciate any more children, and if we will have to adopt both you and Stein, that's simply just not gonna fly I'll add a sample to your little package (which by the way is getting close to take-off, as I cut PCB for you as well when making those boards).Magura

Usually the word people use when I'm around is "insane" Magura

Naah, I just sent a bunch of the Siemens equivalent of those caps to Choky.....and those binding posts Really Stein, for a guy with a very well developed size complex, that's not gonna fly Next in line is actually most likely some respectable binding posts, just ordered the material today, zirconium-chrome-copper. Real nice stuff, uhmn, and the TiN plating Magura

Well, it's either calculations, or just make them real big. I made my choice They're "only" 3.3mm thick, but it's 2 oz. copper and PTFE with glass. I made a quick back o' napkin calc, which exposed the spades as the weak link, the rest does more than 100A Magura

Hmm, crazy frenchy.... Thanks. Love your hat Guess it's time for making some parts for that amp......Right now, the rectifier boards are almost finished, just the solder-mask left. Magura

My condolences The bright side: You won't have to take that discussion again Magura

Unfortunately, you got what you wished for....The CNC mill failed after some 50 pcs. were made Magura

The "ToDo" list:1) Machine rectifier bridge PCB's2) Clamps for the capacitors3) Heat spreader for mosfet's4) Back-lighting5) Bus bars6) A load of anodizing8) A fantazillion threaded holes. One down, 7 to go Magura

True, I forgot you saw some of the pics Magura

I hate to tell you this, but of that F4 he has, 1/3rd was built by Chris Bridge, Nelson Pass, Jan Didden, and yours truly......or it would still have been a project as I write this. Magura

3 month is not too bad....this project is soon to have its 9 years birthday Magura

Given that I can keep the pace, I may soon be able to give you an answer to #1.#2 I would take for granted if the answer to #1 is yes Magura

Naah, but the building of the actual device, (meaning the amp module), is done, so there's just some mechanical stuff left. I've though always considered the mechanical part, to be 95% of an amp, at least if you count the hours spent.Magura

The "ToDo" list is still fairly long. Off the top of my head:1) Machine rectifier bridge PCB's2) Clamps for the capacitors3) Heat spreader for mosfet's4) Back-lighting5) Bus bars6) A load of anodizing7) Supports for the doughnut's8) A fantazillion threaded holes. I hope to have a chance to flick the switch sometime during the summer (2009).Magura
