  1. In that case it will be about an hour, and a sheet of Ti6Al4V wasted Magura
  2. And a close-up for those whom haven't already guessed what it is Magura
  3. So, today we can play "guess a thingie" ;-)Magura
  4. Thanks Muki,What you see here, is 8 years of work, and if I'm just a little lucky, it's gonna be singing sometime in July 2009 Magura
  5. OK, make that 7 then So, how many of you has an idea to share?Magura
  6. So that makes Choky, Choky's alter ego, the voice inside Choky's head, Stein, the voice inside Stein's head, and me....Quite a team if you ask me Magura
  7. In that case, I guess I'm on my own.....what the hell, that's the way it usually is Magura
  8. My guess would be that they find a 1000$ driver hard to sell Magura
  9. You can sure make a field coil stronger than a neodymium, that's just a matter of the power applied. I've played around with coils as magnets previously, and sure there is a limit, but it's beyond what you'd consider reasonable from a power consumption aspect. The main benefit, would be higher flux in the voice coil gap, and a possibility to adjust that parameter. This I would expect, could turn out as a possibility to get better frequency response in the upper end. Magura

  13. I'm considering building a hefty field coil FR driver. My thoughts are along the lines of Feastrex, but avoiding some of their issues.Any thoughts?Magura
  14. I guess it takes some time to get used to, some buttons are moved to less intuitive places, and it seems slower, but I guess that's a matter of time to get it tailored.Magura
  15. Not needed.There are other ways.Magura
  16. I guess that's gonna be around the time when pigs will fly, or shortly after If anything, it's a Sonido 6.5" or 8" in the future, but for now, I'm quite happy with the (now pretty well behaving) FE166e.Magura
  17. Sounds good, but really, a visa should be no problem. Such things can be arranged Magura
  18. Any chance of some of you guys popping in next year?Magura
  19. You mean boxes or drivers?Magura
  20. I finally got around to doing the math, for a phase plug, for taming the notoriously shouty FE166e. Yes, I know, loads of different objects has been in use for this purpose, but most has been like "hey that socket/tube/broomstick looks like it fits".I decided to add a little math to the subject at hand, and used a logarithmic function to calculate a decreasing radius towards the tip. Result: Niiiiice well behaved FE166e.Magura
  21. Something tells me, that it wasn't that kind of "inventions" he was thinking of Magura
  22. I've been living at your side of the iron curtain, regarding DIY, you're better off than I am here. What you can get, is maybe not the most fancy looking stuff, but it's working, it's available, and it's affordable....that's more than what you can say about the situation here Magura
  23. Hey, it's not may fault that Denmark has turned into a sub-standard country. Anywhere else, you'd have the choice to just go and buy them. .....here it's simply faster to make it yourself, compared to waiting for such to be ordered, and be in back-order, then shipped to me on a couple of weeks, if I'm lucky. These took me like an hour to make, and they're somewhat better quality Magura EDIT: Hey, didn't Pinocchio end up with a pretty girl in one of the versions?
  24. Here you can see the layers in the graphite.Magura
  25. This part I think is pretty nifty.A directional heat-spreader. Made of graphite. This will allow me to couple the devices pretty well, and still get rid of the heat.Magura
