Everything works fine, in fact, much better than expected. However, have a small problem. My NS10 preamp appears to be doing more harm than good in the signal path. Connecting the CD player directly to the active crossover (bypassing the NS10) does miracles to music. Clear, crisp, refreshing, amusing, and vivid... With the preamp back in the system everything becomes dull and somehow less fresh and clean, I would say fuzzy... With no tubes in the path, the preamp acts in a completely opposite way than described. That leads me to a thought that it's time to let the preamp let go since with the tube stage the Quad does more good to the joy of listening to the music than the NS10+Quad, straight up...The preamp was built as a match to the F5 I had, but since these were clipping at high levels of listening and I had some issues with cash flow at the same time... Had to let them go. Now it's time to figure the best way to sort the control section. Will see if there's anyone interested to become a new owner of the preamp, if not, I'll take it apart, still need the RIAA that's inside, OTOH, I just might build me one of those glowing in the night RIAA devices...
