  1. What rectifiers do you have in mind? If I have them, I will ship them
  2. "Nutz" pretty much cover the facts Those rectifier boards are turning out as the rest of the amp. Over the top Did you build and test the amp boards yet? Probably some tweaking to do on those Nice emoticons here in ZM's sandbox
  3. Thanks. Unfortunately I dont have any CD's with Gary Karr, but I am sure he would sound great. I have plenty with Willie Dixon on the standup bass, and that is indeed good sounding. I know that I also knew all the time, that you were right BTW Sorry 'bout the delay. I have been sorta busy.
  4. Yes, I should have done that a long time ago. Considering that the speakers counts for approx 80% of the sound in a system, it is where one should put the greatest effort. The 10" woofers has Fs=19hz and a 80l cab can be tuned to a flat 30hZ. Not bad at all. Taking all the hard work from the 7" midrange is great. The overall clarity benefits greatly from that. With a deep firm bottom, the whole thing sounds much more as it was supposed to.
  5. Wanting new speakers, here is what its at, right now: (My best guess is that this is the speaker department....) The calculations and general designphase is done, and I just had to boast a bit I have been working my a## of lately, to get a pair of top class speakers going on, without paying several 10.000usd...... Here is the receipe (at least the one I used): 1: Steal a first class designed box, in this case it is Pass Labs SR1 2: Get some top class drivers (from stranded DIY dreams... he-he). 3: Build some prototype cab's 4: Get an expert to calculate/measure the crossover. I am a happy camper right now, and the speakers sounds just great. The full soundstage, bottom to topend, extremely precise and detailed. Pop into Pass Labs homepage, and have a look at the SR1's, to see where inspiration came from. I am very sure that the broader than usual mid/tweet cab is doing wonders . I didnt want to go 4-way, because the Z would drop dramatically! I am sure that NP's 4ohm spec, is all but a dream... So far these are just prototypes, and the measured results, sets out the goal for the final design. Basicaly the bas-cab is being rebuild to at least 80l The variovents are simply amazing. The bottomend is the most precise that I have ever heard! You can hear the bass-strings vibrate with great precision. Never heard anything like it............ Anyway, as some of you might ask for pictures, here is Troels temporary page for this project: http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/Jensen.htm Drivers, crossover-schematic and so on, is explained there. Man does those speakers play loud and deep and clean, without problems? Yep!! I just went to see Troels again, and pick up the speakers today. Basically I have to build the crossovers and new basscab's, so it will probably be a few days, bfore I report back - Steen
  6. Naa. I better start a new thread about those speakers!!! Ofcourse, it will be here at ZM's DIYA.Upsy daysie. I will be back......
  7. Ya' a show off!! he-heBTW, my speaker project is turning out great;-) Yeehaaaah.....I could supply you with a link, but I am not sure yet,,, Steen
  8. With all that metal you are building into those amps, your transportableamp thingies will need more wheels Here you go, to cheer you up in all that work. One of the main influences of blues/rock, one big honk of a steriodbomb, even before steriods was thought of. You wouldnt want to come across this guy, indeed! Anyway, he is absolutely still worth a listen! One of my favourite artist's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ou-6A3MKow...feature=related. If you want a decent collection of Howlin' Wolf's output, go get "Moanin' in the moonlight". On the video you even get an explanation of what the Blues is!! Listen carefully
  9. The psu that worked best, was a Lm317/337 supply. The BosoZ supply on the pic, wasnt good (noisy!) A clean psu is a must, as ZM said, way back.I had the Drek playing for a while, and it does sound extremely good. It betters everything else at one point: dynamic sound. It is not quite as good as the Pumpkin and LeCheff's UGS on more delicate matters like details, soundstage and the crispy silkysmooth topend. (Just my subjective oppinion ofcourse)Since I dont need so much gain in my system, the Drek is stashed away with the Pumpkin and other stuff I build. Totally nuts Must be a neverending journey. I am building Juma's famous Pre4F5 with lightspeed attenuator, right now BTW, be prepared for a little tweaking with the Drek! It's a tweakers amp and I think it blew a channel just before it was put aside.BTW BTW, Nice bikes, Stein.
  10. This is the real Drek. A pretty difficult beast to control, as far as I recall.
  11. He-he.... This is funny forum, having to click on all those buttons to see what happens. Cant beleive I managed to register and get a post done Much more fun in Srpski
  12. Thanks for the welcome Magura, I am really thrilled for you, seeing that those amps a getting finished. I know you put countless hours into making them and finding all those fancy materials. Those amps are surely the most extreme DIY effort on the planet. Cant wait to hear, if the sound is just as great as the looks
  13. Hi guysNice pic's magura and a nice forum to post them in Where is the Pass department and who is that distinguished gentleman on the pic in post above?
