  1. Now perhaps a foot would be nice, no?To get rid of the transformer, and shielding it as well, I made a hollow foot big enough to contain it. This also allows for an AC inlet and the on/off contactor. So no mains in the box for the amp.Magura :P

  2. To get the heat from the active devices, to the heatsink assembly, either a lot of metal, or carbon seemed to be the options. At this point it gets to become an issue when talking weight. The 35kg mark has been passed, and the box is neither complete, nor has any electronic component been mounted. So, the solution ended up being carbon. Honeywell makes some real nice stuff for this purpose, which is 100% carbon, but with a fiber structure. This material allows the use as a structural part, which is pretty nifty in this case.Pic shows the parts so far, and a test piece of carbon.Magura :P

  3. It might look like that, but i reckon that it's an intrinsic property of human nature to admire achievements that surpass his/hers own level of skill. Nuts & bolts like that are really admirable piece of work :P

Thanks, that's quite a compliment, when coming from you.Magura:)
  4. For while, You are very improved pupil!!! Nice! Once I will translate all of theese word into real english, but not now because I prepare myself to travel on mini vacation! For sentence "Ma koji ti je ku*ac!" proper answer is "Sta te boli ku*ac koji je meni ku*ac!" which represent my disagree to Your initial sentence! :P:P Best rgds A.Car

You have a nice trip, and keep up the translations.Magura ;)
  5. somewhat longer screws than needed ? :P in any case - machine screws , conical head from top of plate ( head flush to plate ) , nuts from bottom .better ? :P

Naah, what you see on the top of the plate, is the holes drilled for the screws. I have been sitting on these, the amps are about as heavy as me, so I figure they're up to the task. Keep in mind that those thingies are only for being able to move the amps while assembling. Once they're finished, they get back on the floor. Magura ;)
  6. At this moment, I'm assembling the box. I found it a brilliant idea to do that upstairs, as it then would be out of the way till it's finished.Once I had put together half of one box, that idea seemed somewhat less brilliant, as I could not move it alone :P So, by the help of a friend, it was carried downstairs :P and yesterday we made these:Magura ;)

  7. To be able to control the orientation of the heat-sinks, I had to make precision bolts for mounting them. To make it look like I had a bit of integrity, I chose to make the nuts for this as well.Making 1 is ok :P Magura :P

  8. when finished - I wanna all these pics , each one no smaller than 1MB :P

I'll make a folder, and save the pics then. It's also getting more interesting now, as it's not just a bunch of funny looking parts. Now it's actually possible to tell they have a purpose (sort of).Magura :P
