The axle is 6mm, if you just followed the bearing marking (LBBR 6A) you'd figure it out yourself, easily...

Not to mention the attached PDF file in the blog which contains most of the dimensions of the tonearm, including the shaft diameter...

The axle was bought in Austria (via ebay) and it's sold as linear bearing shaft. I had to polish it to remove every last tiny micro abrasion - until it became like a mirror ... The bearing is the SKF LBBR 6A, it was a pure mirracle getting it in Serbia. I'm actually happy with it, but I'm already working on a new turntable, a simple one this time so I can use my current one with this arm and to have a reliable TT to test the functionality of some other ideas and projects I have.

Longer bearing means more friction. Not a good idea... Tried it, didn't work.
