  1. Hi Zen Mod, For the input capacitance, can I calculate with 100kOhm like original J2, or is it symmetrically only 20kOhm?
  2. I looked what I could have done wrong, polarity of C1 and C2 correct? You set the jumpers J1 and J2. Q5 orientation?good luck?
  3. Thx Sipi,otherwise I had tried your version of F5 .....
  4. Happy man! Sipi must keep 22 Ohm for the gate resistor! I hear down to 10 kHz I can take 100 Ohm.
  5. Yes I prefer panoramic and ellipically orbital sound and I wish you could hear it!
  6. Hi everybody,Hearing a longer time with Babelfish J2 I prefer to rise the source resistors from 22 Ohm to about 100 ohm. When you have read my few lines about sound you know my joy about this amplifier, I spoke about the bass, the highs, the panoramic sound. :Viannen_loungelizard: the precision, the lightness it moves.....But it did not speak about the medium frequencies, they were praised in the reviews of J2. I could not praise them...... they were just ok.Maybe because I used the cheapest parts for my chaotic build or maybe the J74 aren' t matched close enough .....Maybe my speaker tends to emphasize these region...... But I had one hope the source resistors ...... I know F 1J has 22 Ohm only, it sounded fine, but already with my BA-1 variant I had to go back to 100 Ohm. My wife came in and said what a harsh sound..... , (22 ohm).Ok play with it ....... Lovely medium region now!
  7. Hi Zen Mod, I am happy you got georgous mono at least!!! When you have stereo you will see the panoramic stage offered by Babelfish 2! Schuro got very slow the last weeks! Because of the completely different sound of Babelfish 2 I start new with the pre amplification. I try again passive solutions, they seem to keep the qualities of the output stage more than the active solutions I have. And 20 db amplification is seductive to try this! Happy evening for you! ( of course I am just hearing babefish2)
  8. yes master, did you remark the similarity?
  9. For the ultimate in resolution, I initially defaulted to FirstWatt's stunning J2 amplifier. It renders Yamamoto's 300B SET even with the most transparent output bottles by Synergy Hifi or Shuguang Black Treasure comparatively thick, slow and opaque. Expecting potential hairsplitting and the need to hear the tiniest of details from these very fast and translucent widebanders, Nelson Pass' SemiSouth power JFETs were my keenest microscope.from http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/yamamoto10/passive_2.htmlwhat did I say............!
  10. Thx Zen Mod,the sound is panoramic, very wide, but the sources itself stay precise, are not blown up, and between the sources is something you cannot grap easily ..... interaction?o.k. enough honeymoon for today!good work Zen Mod!
  11. "having preamp with full blast gain for follower stage - connected to 1V5 declared input of amp is almost certain disaster ...... as leaking gas from stove " Dear Zen Mod, what is the lowest value for the feedback resistor in Pumpkin you can recommend?
  12. ........ the separation of the different acoustic sources in depth and width is so fantastic, every source has its own place ....and to say something critical: my room is very small, I am only 2 m away from the speakers and may be all is a touch to near in this unused presence not used from F4 ..... may be I will play with the gate stoppers later and hear if I can find a good value for me.
  13. Hi stoN Kold, nothing extraordinary, sp300b build them some years ago and showed very good pictures! Mine are in a raw condition... the plan is from Sonido and is a little bit different from the plan on the webpage, they changed some dimensions to make it better. I could post the new plan, if wanted .....but of course for you a picture , still no driver mounted .......... next week I will build them up, today I will only hear Babelshark J2!
  14. I changed the earth conections.. oscillation away..... still to much hum.... but I was coming from Pumpkin with F4, I have to reduce the gain of Pumpkin and have to use shielded cable in the input.............. but hearing louder musik.................... stereo now.......... fantastic , totally different from F4!
  15. The good message, both channels work! the bad message: connected both channels to pumpkin, I have for the first time an oscillation in one channel ....... so still no stereo, only double mono! IHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH... now I drink two espresso and ................ go on! btw Sonidos are waiting, wooden horns arrived yesterday!
  16. no success today, I just prayed and switched on, ............ even the LEDs did not burn, the offset was good, the Iq was rising.....batsch a sparkle and I switched off.... what a hollow sound, big hole sound.... enough for today, tomorrow I will look again! (the second half of the PC-board I used for the second channel, I remarked too late, has many fine connections I did not see in the beginning, some I killed, maybe not all. Or something stupid)
  17. Thanks guys for escorting the build........... I am afraid stoN kold will be right, the sound will have many fine holes....... I' ll report!
  18. the holes are for air circulation........... second channel ready, la fiesta tomorrow!
  19. the second channel grows..............a little better organized than the first.
  20. yes Sonido as a horn construction, what does BHL mean?the smallest Sonido, money and to get acquainted to the matter, but they are so tiny!
  21. mine were 2,4V and 20mA.... damned so many different green LED´s! Thanks for clarification Zen Mod!
  22. "naah - what I did is just Babelfish-ing Papa's bread crumbs..."correct, but you were the only pigeon that could cook a fish meal from it!
  23. hi tea-bag, we are always close together in the race to hear a new amplifier....... when I put my chaotic point to point construction together I was very slowly because I new to look again at he circuit and compare scheme and construction is very dull and difficult. I could imagine you forgot one of the long connections from the different isles in the beginning to the output, for instance Q2 to R32, or the one I forgot fromCNY17 point 4 to drain of Q14. I found it before I switched on. But point to point is also a pleasure, more concentration, more awareness how the scheme works. Good luck!
